So if you haven’t already heard, it’s been announced that Pixar are creating a prequel to Monsters Inc, called Monsters University. It’s starring Mike and Sulley again, both voiced by John Goodman and Billy Crystal, and it was co-written by Pete Docker, who directed and co-wrote Monsters Inc, and Andrew Stanton, who also co-wrote Monsters Inc.
According to Wikipedia, the plot is loosely based on how Mike and Sulley went from being enemies to friends. Billy Crystal says that the film is “college pranks with monsters. And I wear a retainer. Mike has a retainer.”. He also said that the script is “hilarious”.
We still have to wait another year though, as the release date is currently set at June 21st 2013!
Monsters Inc is the eigth heighest grossing animation of all time, and managed to earn $256 million at the box office! Monsters University is Pixar’s first prequel and I can definitley say it’s already highly anticipated…
