Lilo Pelekai is the main character from the Lilo and Stitch series. She’s a cute as a button 6 (eventually 7) year old Hawaiin girl. Here’s some really cool trivia about the movies…

• ‘Lilo’ translates as ‘lost’ in Hawaiian which would give the title song “He Mele No Lilo” a loose translation as “Lullaby of the Lost”.

• Lilo and Stitch was the first Disney animated feature to use (digital) watercolor-painted backgrounds since Dumbo.

• Daveigh Chase, who voices Lilo, also voiced Chihiro in Spirited Away, and Samara Morgan from The Ring. Who’d have guessed, eh?

• The majority of license plates in the film are A113. The same as Mrs. Davis’s plate number in Toy Story, Mater’s plate number in Cars, and also used in many other Disney and Pixar films. It is a reference to a room number at California Institute of the Arts, where many of the animators received their educations.

• The characters pass the “Mulan Wok” and Nani has a “Mulan” poster on her bedroom wall.This is because of Lilo and Stitch was the second film to be made in the Orlando studio, the first being Mulan.

•  Alan Silverstri (the composer of the music, who also worked on Forrest Gump) worked with a hula master, Mark Keali’i Hom’omalu on the musical score.

• Jason Scott Lee (David) and Tia Carrere (Nani) were born in Hawaii, so helped with the accents and dialogue!

• Chris Sanders, one of the directors, voices Stitch.
