Pixar: Newt

”What happens when the last remaining male and female blue-footed newts on the planet are forced together by science to save the species, and they can’t stand each other? Newt and Brooke embark on a perilous, unpredictable adventure and discover that finding a mate never goes as planned, even when you only have one choice. Love, it turns out, is not a science.”

The plot stands for Newt, but the release date still hasn’t been announced, leading most to believe Newt has been cancelled, insiders supposedly saying:

“We have taken Newt off of our development schedule to allow our creative teams to focus on these upcoming projects.” and John Lasseter (Disney/Pixar animation head) declined to comment.

What d’you think?

Would Newt have been successful as Pixar’s other works?

Wreck-It Ralph

Here are the characters from upcoming Wreck-It Ralph, the plot described here as…

“Wreck-It Ralph is the nine-foot-tall, 643-pound villain of the arcade video game Fix-It Felix Jr., in which the game’s titular hero fixes buildings that Ralph destroys. For 30 years, Ralph has been doing the same job over and over and has become tired of being the bad guy. Wanting to prove he can be a good guy and not just a villain, Ralph escapes his game through the power cord and lands in Hero’s Duty, a light-gun shooter, where he helps the game’s hero, Sergeant Calhoun, battle against “Cy-Bugs”, the game’s alien invaders. He later enters Sugar Rush, a kart racing game set on tracks made of candies, cookies and other sweets. There, Ralph meets Vanellope von Schweetz, one of the game’s characters, who has learned that her game is faced with a dire threat that could affect the entire arcade, and one that Ralph may have inadvertently started.”

Doo Wop Shop A Cappella Group – Disney Medley

This is a Disney Medley performed totally a cappella by a group called the Doo Wop Shop. It’s astonishing, and I won’t say too much, but it’s the best thing I’ve seen all week!

Historically Accurate Disney Princesses by Shoomlah

I found these interesting art pieces on Deviantart last week. They’re by the fantastic shoomlah, who has recreated the princesses as they would be if they wore costumes reflecting that of the historical time period! I think they’re fabulous! A lot of research must have gone into these, and the outcome is certainly to a high standard and they’re very beautiful pieces of art.

If you liked these, be sure to follow the links and check out even more of the artists gorgeous art. It deserves so much more recognition!

Hipster Disney Princesses

Deviantart is the best place ever for fanart and photography and traditional and digital art. It’s simply magnificent, and everybody’s so talented. So I was thrilled to discover this wonderful piece of art by Mayanna depicting the Disney Princesses in hipster style.

I think my favourite is Tiana or Meg! They’re so good! Anyway, this artist creates wonderful art, you should check her out! Especially if you like Harry Potter, Naruto, Death Note and Hetalia! Click the picture or go to the profile link below!

Princess of the day: Belle

  • Sherri Stoner was a body model for Belle as well as Ariel!
  • The dance between Belle and the Beast at the end is actually reused footage of Prince Phillip and Aurora, done because the production time was running out.
  • Her personality traits are listed as kind, accepting, brave, intelligent, independent, stubborn, protective, outspoken, bold, curious and imaginative.
  • Belle is the first princess to have a male villain.
  • Her name is french for ‘beautiful’, though she remains rather unaware of her beauty.
  • Her main ability comes from her intelligence and wit, proving to the Beast that she is not a pushover or afraid to stand up for herself. She is independent.
  • She shows viewers that beauty comes from within and that it’s not just appearance that matters.

Princess of the day: Rapunzel

Rapunzel, the most recent Disney princess, famed for her long magical hair is the princess of the day!

  • Her long blonde hair is seventy feet long, and ten feet when plaited.
  • When she sings the healing song, it has the power to heal and reverse aging as her hair glows.
  • She was inspired by Claire Keane, daughter of animator, Glen Keane.
  • Her nicknames are Blondie, Goldie and Flower!
  • Her personality traits are listed as feisty, defiant, kind, sweet, romantic, energetic, confident, adventurous, courageous, curious, innocent and rightful.
  • Princess Aurora was an inspiration for Rapunzel; they both wanted to be free and meet new people, they dreamed of adventure, they did not know their royal status and they both did not wear shoes.
  • She’s the only Disney princess with green eyes.
  • She’s the first princess to have freckles.
  • She has superhuman strength – shown by being able to swing from hair, pull Mother Gothel into the tower, and carry 70ft of hair!

I adore Rapunzel’s character! And this is arguably the most beautiful scene from any film, ever.
