By far one of the best animated shorts I’ve ever seen.
The best animated film I saw this year wasn’t feature length. It was John Kahrs‘ short film, Paperman. The short follows the story of a lonely young man in New
York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office, and sets out to get her attention. Using a revolutionary technique of blending 2D and 3D, Paperman isn’t only gorgeous, but it’s also hopelessly romantic. I felt bad for Wreck-It Ralph since it had to follow this short.
Check out the trailer for the upcoming Disney film Wreck-it Ralph! The film follows the title character, a video game villain who is tired of being the bad guy, on his journey hopping through different video games, both new and old.
Check out this image! Using the lyrics “There goes the baker with his tray, like always” from the song “Little Town” and applying it the the Hunger Games, we get this neat little mash up! What was once Belle is now Katniss and Peeta has become the village baker!
Hey everyone! So Monday in my Latin class, my student teacher was more hyper and overactive than usual. We were talking about Virgil’s classic tale the Aeneid. For those of you who are not familiar with the tale we were discussing how the heroine Dido had killed herself after the hero Aeneas said he did not love her and how immediately the story moves on to the hero Aeneas sailing away. The class was silent as usual. He sensed our boredom and said something that caught our attention.
My student Latin teacher said, “Isn’t Dido’s death like when Bambi’s mother dies? It is isn’t it! Well you see, there is the drama of Bambi’s mother dying but you don’t see it happening! And here Dido kills herself but it’s hard to visualize a strong queen committing suicide! After Dido dies the story shifts almost immediately saying ‘Meanwhile Aeneas was sailing away….’ It’s almost like after the death of Bambi’s mother they play the song Let’s Play a Gay Little Spring Song.” He then starts breaking into song. I have never had so much respect for a grown man (mainly because our classes are video taped due to evaluation purposes for our student teacher and he was willing to sing a song from the Classic Disney Era).
Well if you haven’t seen the movie Bambi or it’s been too long for you to remember the song here it is. Thank you WalkDisneyCartoons@youtube!
I’m a new admin and I’d love to hear about any of your teacher/student teacher that act like this.
La Luna is a Pixar short that has been nominated by the Academy Awards for a Best Animated Short Film. What do you think? Pixar makes some really classic shorts, and I haven’t yet seen this one, so if you have, please let us know what you thought of it in the comments below.
Thanks to Movies.com for the heads up on this 5 minute salute to Disney animation through the years. Let us know what you think!
“‘If it was right on the big screen, on a classy VHS tape, or on a simple disc, the times we spent laughing, crying, and cheering for these mesmerizing characters will stay in our hearts forever. We all flew to Neverland. We all went under the sea. We all found the honey,’ writes NkMcdonalds,” writes Movies.com
Bleeding Cool posted a bunch of photos of concept art and sculptures that are currently being displayed at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios park. It’s truly amazing stuff. So, if you’re in the area, I recommend that you take some time to check out the artwork. You’ll be able to find it following the signage for Winnie the Pooh and Cars 2 works.
