Robert Sherman passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012. Some may not know who he is as he wrote many a song for Disney back in the 60′s and 70′s. He also helped write the song “It’s a Small World” with his brother, Richard.
If you ever watched the animated flicks The Jungle Book, The Sword and the Stone, Winnie the Pooh or The Aristocats, or the live action films Mary Poppins, Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, or Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang, then you’ve heard his music – he wrote many more songs for many other films, but it would take too long to write them all. He was a gifted songwriter and composer and some of his songs will still bring have us pouncing and flouncing around or tug at our hearts.
Enjoy the following tunes in rememberance of him:
From Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree
From The Jungle Book
From Charlotte’s Web
Please note that Charlotte’s Web was not a Disney film, however, it’s one of my favorite childhood movies of all time and I couldn’t help resist putting this memorable song up.
