Hipster Disney Princesses

Deviantart is the best place ever for fanart and photography and traditional and digital art. It’s simply magnificent, and everybody’s so talented. So I was thrilled to discover this wonderful piece of art by Mayanna depicting the Disney Princesses in hipster style.

I think my favourite is Tiana or Meg! They’re so good! Anyway, this artist creates wonderful art, you should check her out! Especially if you like Harry Potter, Naruto, Death Note and Hetalia! Click the picture or go to the profile link below!

Princess of the day: Rapunzel

Rapunzel, the most recent Disney princess, famed for her long magical hair is the princess of the day!

  • Her long blonde hair is seventy feet long, and ten feet when plaited.
  • When she sings the healing song, it has the power to heal and reverse aging as her hair glows.
  • She was inspired by Claire Keane, daughter of animator, Glen Keane.
  • Her nicknames are Blondie, Goldie and Flower!
  • Her personality traits are listed as feisty, defiant, kind, sweet, romantic, energetic, confident, adventurous, courageous, curious, innocent and rightful.
  • Princess Aurora was an inspiration for Rapunzel; they both wanted to be free and meet new people, they dreamed of adventure, they did not know their royal status and they both did not wear shoes.
  • She’s the only Disney princess with green eyes.
  • She’s the first princess to have freckles.
  • She has superhuman strength – shown by being able to swing from hair, pull Mother Gothel into the tower, and carry 70ft of hair!

I adore Rapunzel’s character! And this is arguably the most beautiful scene from any film, ever.

“People are who they are by the way they react to things.”

Hello! My name is Kelly, and this is my first post! I hope you are all having a wonderful day today.

Glen Keane has recently announced that after 37 years working at Disney, he is leaving.

On March 23st 2012, he wrote in a letter to co workers:

“I owe so much to those great animators who mentored me — Eric Larson, Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston — as well as to the many other wonderful people at Disney whom I have been fortunate to work with in the past nearly 38 years. I am convinced that animation really is the ultimate form of our time with endless new territories to explore. I can’t resist its siren call to step out and discover them.”

Keane created some of the most fantastic artwork and animation for countless Disney movies, including The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Tangled and personally has inspired me to perservere in the things that I love.  Instead of being sad that he’s left, be thankful for all that he’s brought to the Walt Disney company, and be very excited to see what he will continue to bring to the rest of the world!

It seems this man will never stop giving, no matter what he does!

A fantastic tumblr account dedicated to Keane art can be found here and it’s definitley worth checking out.

Here is a lovely video of Glen Keane, himself, drawing and talking about the character of Rapunzel (my favourite Disney princess) It’s so fantastic to see the passion he has for what he does. He will definitley be missed, but never forgotten. Time will tell what else he has to offer!
