Historically Accurate Disney Princesses by Shoomlah

I found these interesting art pieces on Deviantart last week. They’re by the fantastic shoomlah, who has recreated the princesses as they would be if they wore costumes reflecting that of the historical time period! I think they’re fabulous! A lot of research must have gone into these, and the outcome is certainly to a high standard and they’re very beautiful pieces of art.

If you liked these, be sure to follow the links and check out even more of the artists gorgeous art. It deserves so much more recognition!

Retro and Vintage Princesses by GuardianoftheSword

Browsing Deviantart, stumble across these phenomenal Retro and Vintage themed Disney illustrations… They’re by a deviant who goes by the name of GuardianoftheSword and I think we can all agree they’re lovely! I love the different eras reflecting through their clothes. My favourite’s Ariel! What d’you guys think? How wonderfully talented is this artist? I’ve linked every picture, so if you click each one, it’ll take you directly to the deviation and you can check out the rest of their art (which I seriously suggest doing, because it’s fantastic!)

Go on guys…

“People are who they are by the way they react to things.”

Hello! My name is Kelly, and this is my first post! I hope you are all having a wonderful day today.

Glen Keane has recently announced that after 37 years working at Disney, he is leaving.

On March 23st 2012, he wrote in a letter to co workers:

“I owe so much to those great animators who mentored me — Eric Larson, Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston — as well as to the many other wonderful people at Disney whom I have been fortunate to work with in the past nearly 38 years. I am convinced that animation really is the ultimate form of our time with endless new territories to explore. I can’t resist its siren call to step out and discover them.”

Keane created some of the most fantastic artwork and animation for countless Disney movies, including The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Tangled and personally has inspired me to perservere in the things that I love.  Instead of being sad that he’s left, be thankful for all that he’s brought to the Walt Disney company, and be very excited to see what he will continue to bring to the rest of the world!

It seems this man will never stop giving, no matter what he does!

A fantastic tumblr account dedicated to Keane art can be found here and it’s definitley worth checking out.

Here is a lovely video of Glen Keane, himself, drawing and talking about the character of Rapunzel (my favourite Disney princess) It’s so fantastic to see the passion he has for what he does. He will definitley be missed, but never forgotten. Time will tell what else he has to offer!
